Please fill out the surrender form by clicking the link below if you are looking to surrender a kitty. Should our available space fill before you submit a surrender form, you will be added to our waitlist instead.
If being added to our waitlist, wait times depend on kennel/foster availability and compatibility to ensure the best environment during their time with us. Please be patient with our team! Our Intake Coordinator will reach out to you once we have availability. Pressuring us, guilt tripping us, threatening an animal, and harassing us will result in being removed from our waitlist and us not providing you with our rescue services. In the meantime, we do highly encourage you to reach out to other local rescues and shelters for assistance while you wait.
If you have any issues filling out the surrender form, please send an email to kittyco.intakes@gmail.com.
Please note: All sick/injured cats and cats in high-risk situations are prioritized. We can only accept friendly and/or owned cats and kittens at this time.
Feral cats: We typically do not accept true feral (spicy/untamed/unable to handle) adult cats into our adoption program because it is unlikely they will become safely adoptable and they often will always live in fear being indoors or in close range of humans. Feral adult cats either require 1) an experienced individual who can work with them daily one-on-one with socializing and desensitizing to prepare them for an indoor forever home, 2) to be properly acclimated to a barn home where they are inside, cared for, and can be "working" cats as mousers and not have to interact with humans or 3) to be TNRed (trapped, neutered, and returned to the place they originally came from) as long as they have a caretaker.
Live traps: If you are in need of a live box trap to TNR a kitty, we do loan them out for a small refundable deposit of $20 per trap. Please send us an email at kittycocatrescue@gmail.com or visit our rescue during open hours if you need to borrow a trap.
Owner Surrenders: Giving up a pet is never an easy decision, and we hope you will try some of these below suggestions before surrendering or rehoming.
If you'd like to try and rehome your kitty on your own while waiting for rescue placement:
*If you have found a lost cat or kitten, please contact your local animal shelter first. Animal shelters are generally the first stop for pet owners who have lost their pets, and many people without access to the internet or those who are unfamiliar with social media depend on shelters to be reunited with their beloved pet.
If your kitty has a medical emergency, please DO NOT WAIT for us to get back to you. Please drive to your nearest emergency vet immediately.
