Baby came to us all the way from Kuwait, when her rescuer over there couldn't care for her any longer. She only has one eye and walks a little funny sometimes due to some neurological sensitivities, but that doesn't slow this girl down one bit! Baby has a huge personality, is very playful and quirky, will happily greet you every time you walk into her room, and she loves to bird watch out of her window and snuggle with her foster purrents in her downtime. However, Baby does require a home as the only pet and without young children due to her sensitivities. She doesn't like to share her space with dogs, cats, or young children, but she loves her big humans and toys, though! Baby is on a prescription diet for a history of urinary issues - she has Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) and needs pain meds when she has a flare up (usually every couple months, but can vary). FLUTD is not contagious and does not shorten Baby's lifespan. It is manageable and as long as she continues her prescription food, stays up-to-date on vetting, and lives in a non-stressful and quiet environment, she can thrive. Additionally, she gets liquid oral meds (Gabapentin) twice a day that helps with her neuro sensitivities. Baby's foster wants her future adopter to know that she is a really good girl for taking her meds! Baby hopes you'll consider a special needs cat, because she would love to meet you and finally be a part of her own little family!
When she was much smaller, Baby was found in the streets of Kuwait, a country located in Western Asia, bordering Iraq and Saudi Arabia. She was brought indoors by a woman. Upon intake, she discovered that Baby's right eye was ruptured and she had to have it removed. Baby also did not have any vision in her left eye, but after some special drops and reconstruction to open it up, she gained some vision back in that eye - we just don't know how much. They had to take skin from her lip and add it to her left eyelid. These surgeries were done in January of this year. Unfortunately, she was not able to keep Baby very long due to her disability and conflict with family. Baby would've had to of been put back onto the streets, but thankfully, another woman posted a Tiktok about TNRing some kitties that went viral! The woman who had Baby, saw this Tiktok and reached out to her, desperate to find Baby help so that she didn't have to go back onto the streets. This woman actually lives in the Pittsburgh area, very very far from Kuwait, but was eager to make this possible for Baby, so she created a Facebook post asking for rescue help. KCCR came across it in our news feed and we just knew we had to help, so we reached out! One thing led to another, and at just 7 months old, Baby made a long journey - a 16 hr flight - from Kuwait to Washington, D.C., where she was then picked up by the very kind rescue lady. She made the drive back to the Pittsburgh area with Baby and brought her to Baby's current foster home. Teamwork definitely made the dream work for this precious kitty!
